Good practices

In this article, we will see the good practices in a few steps to prepare your videoconference or your live.

First step :
  1. Check your equipment: Computer / Microphone / Webcam / Internet connection (If possible choose a wired internet connection for better stability)
  2. Choose a recent browser: (Firefox / Chrome / Edge / Safari IOS) We recommend Google Chrome.

If you are using Chrome:
  1. Type chrome: // settings in the address bar
  2. Type "photo" in the search bar
  3. Go to "Site settings"> "Camera" and check that the option: "Ask for permission before accessing" is checked
  4. Go to "Site settings"> "Micro" and check that the option: "Ask for permission before accessing" is checked. "

If you are using Firefox:
  1. Type about: / preferences in the address bar
  2. Type "Camera" in the search bar
  3. Go to "Permissions", in front of "Camera" and click on "Settings"
  4. Check that the option "Block new access requests to your camera" is unchecked
  5. Click on "Save changes"
  6. Type "Microphone" in the search bar
  7. Go to "Permissions", in front of "Microphone" click on "Settings" and check that the option "Block new requests for access to your microphone" is unchecked
  8. Click on "Save changes"

If you are using a Mac:
  1. Click on the "System Preferences" menu
  2. Click on "Security and confidentiality", then on "Confidentiality"
  3. Select "Camera"
  4. Check the box next to the browser to allow it and access the camera
  5. Select "Microphone"
  6. Check the box next to the browser to allow it to access the microphone

Second step :
  1. Choice of location: Choose an isolated place or as quiet as possible with a neutral background
  2. Have a good light: Choose a well-lit place and face the light to avoid the "backlight" effect

Third step :
  1. Always do a test: Do a test before starting the videoconference with the same computer, the same webcam, the same microphone and in the same location as the one chosen for the event. Even if the system works fine on your computer, it doesn't say that on another you have the same result.

Practical advice :
  1. Avoid wearing an outfit with a striped top or a black top as the camera will make the background too bright.
  2. Keep the camera at eye level.
  3. Tone on tone is not recommended if you have a white background, avoid wearing a white top.
